The
Authority Hockey teams are preparing to compete in the 2014 Greater
Accra Hockey Association league to book a place in the 2014 Africa
Hockey Club Champions in Egypt later in the year. The teams are also
preparing to defend the gold medals they won in the last edition of
the Security Service Association Games (SESSA):
LADIES
The
ladies are looking forward to annexing the trophy for the fourth
congestive time when the league starts. The Ladies team have proved
to Hockey circles why they are currently ranked second best on the
Africa Continent.
The
2013 Africa Hockey Club Championship bronze medalist shown class in
the 2013 Hockey season winning the Greater Accra Hockey Gala and the
T-Tommy Memorial Hockey tournament in Kumasi in April and July, 2013
respectively.
And
crowned the year with the Biege Capital Hockey Knockout competition
trophy.
MEN
The
men team made a slow start of the league due to challenges in
numerical strength but have picked up a winning momentum in the
second round and are hopeful to pick the 2nd
spot by the end of the league.
After
storming the Africa and Asia Continent with good display of Hockey
three (3) years ago, age has caught up with most of the players. With
numerical strength being the team’s major challenge, the team has
still managed some silver ware in their cabinet this season.
The
team played in the finals of the 2013 Greater Accra Hockey Gala
competition only to lose out to a highly motivated Bank of Ghana
side. The men made the Authority proud by winning the 2013 T- Tommy
Memorial Hockey tournament in Kumasi in July.
